how to make simple vanilla cookies

You will need:
41/2 oz butter
2oz icing sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8oz plain flour

STEP ONE: Place the butter in a large bowl and mix with an electric mixer until soft. Then sift in the icing sugar and combine together
STEP TWO: Break the egg into a small bowl, add the vanilla extract and beat together. Add the eggy mixture bit by bit into the large bowl, stirring each time
STEP THREE: Sift the flour into the batter mixture gradually and combine together until it forms a dough ball (unfortunately not the Pizza Express kind) then wrap the dough in a plastic bag and place in the fridge for 30 mins. Meanwhile heat the oven to 180oC
STEP FOUR: Once the 30 minutes is up, sprinkle flour over a clean surface then roll out the dough until it's evenly thick (around 1cm)
STEP FIVE: Grease a baking tray and use a cookie cutter to cut your dough. Once all cut, place the cookies in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown
STEP SIX: While the biscuits are baking, roll out fondant and use the same cookie cutter to replicate the same shapes
STEP SEVEN: Once the cookies are cool cover them with buttercream thinly then use this as a glue for the fondant shapes. Decorate how you like and serve!
